5+1 Should Take Legal Approach Toward Iran Nuclear Issue : Envoy

Rome, Oct 27, IRNA – G5+1 should take a legal, technical and good will approach toward Iran's nuclear issue, Iran's Ambassador to Italy Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here on Friday. He made the remarks in an interview with Italian Adnkronos International (AKI) News Agency. 'Committed to solve the nuclear issue, Iran has come to the negotiation table and if the other side of negotiations takes a legal, technical approach, and has good will as well, the issue could be solved easily.' Hosseini noted that Iran would continue negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and 5+1 Group. 'Iran and the G5+1 have had constructive talks at the expert level meeting after Istanbul, Baghdad and Moscow negotiations and a new date for future talks have not been already scheduled; Iran's negotiations with the G5+1 is based on the NPT principles and it should continue in a step-by-step and reciprocal approach.' Answering a question about a possible change in Iran's policy toward its diplomatic relation with the US, Iran's ambassador to Italy underlined that Washington should change its strategy toward Iran if it wants to have direct negotiations with Tehran. 'The new US president should try to revive the lost popularity of his country in the world and take confidence-building measures toward the world.' Replying a question about the Zionist regime threats against Tehran, he asserted that Iran is not worried about the Zionist regime threats and Tehran will give a crushing response to any possible attack. 'Iran has offered a transparent proposal for the resolution of the Syrian crisis; Iran's proposal underscores that as the first step, the violations and weaponization of opposition should stop and at the second stage, a national dialogue between the opposition and government should be fulfilled to form a transitional government and finally, they can choose a date for holding general election, there.' Hosseini added that Iran has conferred with Egypt, Turkey, Venezuela and Iraq as well as the UN-Arab League Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, its proposal for resolution of Syrian crisis. 'A democratic approach without foreign interference can solve the Syrian crisis; all regional countries should help to end the conflict because it is a big challenge to regional peace and security.' Speaking about Tehran-Rome ties, the envoy underlined that Iran and Italy have historical cultural relations and Tehran hopes that Italy resist the outside pressures aimed at weakening the bilateral ties./end
