Ahmadinejad Arrives In Kuwait City

Kuwait City, Oct 17, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Kuwait City to attend the first Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit. The head of presidential office Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, senior advisor to the president Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi, Vice-President Hamid Baqaei, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi and Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini are accompanying the president. He is to present initiatives to the first ACD meeting to expand and reinforce Inter-Asian countries cooperation. President Ahmadinejad will meet several heads of state on the sidelines of the meeting in Kuwait City as well. ACD as the biggest Asian cooperation organization is a body created in 2002 by 18 members and currently comprises 31 states to promote Asian cultural, economic and social cooperation among member nations. It is also to help integrate separate regional cooperation organizations such as ASEAN, SAARC and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council. The main objectives of the ACD are to promote interdependence among Asian countries in all areas of cooperation by identifying Asia's common strengths and opportunities which will help reduce poverty and improve the quality of life for Asian people whilst developing a knowledge-based society within Asia and enhancing community and people empowerment./end
