British Civil Rights Activists Condemn West Threats Against Iran

London, May 20, IRNA – Hundreds of British civil rights activists gathered in front of the US Embassy here on Saturday afternoon and condemned west threats and sanctions against Iran as well as NATO crimes in different parts of the world.
Participants in the gathering, which was held on the eve of NATO Summit meeting in Chicago, strongly condemned US and its allies invasion against Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and US drone attacks in Yemen and Pakistan.
They underlined that people in the world and tax payers in western countries were opposed to NATO warmongering policies.
They shouted slogans such as; “ Freedom and justice for all,” “ Stop killing civilians,” “ Withdraw military forces from Afghanistan,” Close military US bases in Britain,” and “ We are opposed to UK participation in NATO.
Protesters were carrying placards that read: Do not attack Iran, End Afghanistan occupation, Leave Syria alone, Global peace-Global justice, Close Guantanamo, Increase welfare budget instead of military budget, Blood for oil is enough.
A number of political personalities and leaders of anti-war and peace-loving bodies delivered speeches in the gathering.
The main theme of the speeches was opposition to NATO warmongering policies, necessity of immediate withdrawal of alien forces from Afghanistan, condemnation of sanctions and threats of west and the Zionist regime against Iran, opposition to any kind of foreign interference in Syrian domestic affairs and necessity of immediate disarmament of the Zionist regime and support for oppressed people of Palestine.
They accused western governments of following dual standards such as facing developments in Syria and Bahrain and nuclear activities in Iran and Israel./end
