China, Russia will support Pyongyang’s dialogue with Seoul and Washington, say South Korean national security advisor

SEOUL, March 15. /TASS/. China and Russia will offer all-round support to the upcoming talks between the two Koreas and possible dialogue between North Korea and the United States, South Korea’s National Security Advisor Chung Eui-yong said on Thursday after visits to China and Russia. "China’s and Russia’s senior officials hailed the positive changes in the situation on the Korean Peninsula, in particular, steps towards reconciliation between South and North," he said, adding that Beijing and Moscow believe that such talks are an important possibility to change the situation on and around the Korean Peninsula for the better. A South Korean delegation visited Pyongyang at the beginning of the last week. The delegation was received by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The visit yielded an agreement on a meeting between the leaders of the two Koreas in late April. Visiting Washington later, Chung Eui-yong handed over to US President Donald Trump Kim Jong-un’s message inviting to a bilateral summit. After that, Chung Eui-yong visited China and Russia. Read more
