Envoy: Iran Proposal Creates Appropriate Ground To Settle Syrian Crisis

Damascus, Oct 17, IRNA – Iran Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheybani underlined that Iran plan can be an appropriate ground for any political move aiming to settle Syrian crisis. Speaking in a ceremony held by one of Syrian youth organizations to appreciate ambassadors of friends of Syria, the Iranian envoy said that this plan needs consideration of all viewpoints in the Syrian political arena and abroad to turn into a comprehensive plan. He said for removing the crisis, Iran believes in political solution and participation of different political and social trends in a national and all-inclusive dialogue. In this concern, Iran has prepared a proposal and has submitted it to international and regional bodies and countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. He added copies of the proposal have been submitted to the UN special envoy in Syria affairs Lakhdar Brahimi and Syrian officials. Sheybani said Iran’s plan included stopping violence, starting ceasefire, and prevention of alien support for armed groups in the first stage. The second stage includes political approaches and using democratic methods such as holding joint meetings with representatives of Syrian people, domestic oppositions and government to prepare ground for beginning of a transitional stage and then holding parliamentary election, so the crisis can be solved by Syrian people and far from alien interferences./end
