ERC rehabilitates autism centre in Aden

Abu Dhabi, 17th November, 2015 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is rebuilding and rehabilitating the Society for Autistic Children at Khormaksar, Governorate of Aden, as part of 15 vital development projects being implemented as per the directives of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU) and the Family Development Foundation (FDF), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (SCMC) and Honorary Chairwoman of the ERC, to improve healthcare services for mothers and children in Yemen. The plan includes expansion of the facility by building new classes, halls for recreational and sports activities, indoor and outdoor gardens, and provision of state-of-the-art audio-visual learning aids. Sheikha Fatima's initiative has been well received and welcomed by the families of the autistic children and local officials since the Society was facing financial difficulties in providing services to such needy children. The ERC officials said they responded to appeals from parents of these children to support the Society and bring it back to life after its activities were suspended due to the ongoing events in Yemen. Abeer Al Yousufi, Chairperson of the Society, expressed profound gratitude to Sheikha Fatima for her generous gesture, which underscores H.H.'s care for this segment of the society and her keenness to ease their suffering and pain. ''The initiative of H.H. has once again brought to life this important health facility which serves many families that cannot afford to take care of their autistic children,'' she added. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395288095010.html
