FM Spokesman Doubts Political Wits Of Canadian FM

Tehran, June 18, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Eraqchi referred to the recent remarks of the Canadian foreign minister who had described the results of the recent presidential elections in Iran as meaningless and said he doubted the political wit of the Canadian FM. Talking in his weekly press briefing, he said Iran paid no attention to such statements about its presidential elections, adding that it was not worth reacting to them. He noted that the Canadian foreign minister has already received due and proper response from the Iranians living in the country as well as other Canadian politicians who described his remarks as ˈnon-diplomatic and cheapˈ. The spokesman further commented on remarks of two senior Iranian parliamentarians on the need of corresponding with Saudi Arabian officials to remove the diplomatic immunity of a member of Saudi embassy in Tehran. He said his ministry is examining the issue with the Saudi officials within the framework of Vienna Convention. As to unrest in Turkey, Araqchi stressed that the issue is a domestic one, adding that no foreign country has the right to intervene./end
