FM Spokesman: Iran Optimistic About Future Of Talks With G5+1
Tehran, April 19, IRNA - Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Wednesday that Iran is optimistic about future of talks with G5+1 recently held in Istanbul, Turkey.
According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mehmanparast arrived in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia as part of his regional tour of the Balkans.
“We should exercise patience during talks between the two sides,” he told reporters.
The significant points in recent talks between Iran and G5+1 was that both sides showed willingness to continue talks and voiced readiness to expand cooperation on nuclear issues based on NPT and most important of all was that the meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, he said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran strives to help restore peace, stability and convergence to the region, he said.
Referring to new round of sanctions imposed against Iran, Mehmanparast said Iran has made good progress in attaining self-sufficiency in various fields.
Iran calls for annihilation of weapons of mass destruction as well as nuclear arms, he said and underlined that Iran is against proliferation of such weapons.
Another major point in recent talks was that the G5+1 officially recognized Iran’s peaceful nuclear rights and talks will be continued in Baghdad, he said.
Iran is opposed to any weapons of mass destruction and believes that all countries should made use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he said./end
