Foreign minister denies Thailand sides with Russia

BANGKOK, April 13 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn stood firm that Thailand was not siding with Russia but was ready to develop good ties with every country and was proceeding with its normal foreign affair policies. He responded to the criticism that the Thai government became closer to Russia and that might affect relations with the United States. Gen Tanasak said that Thailand was impartial and had been a friend with Russia for 118 years and over 180 years with the US. He also said Thailand had discussed trade in weapons and farm products with Russia, the US and China since the tenure of the previous government. His government only proceeded with the trade negotiations and sealed what could be settled, Gen Tanasak said. (TNA)
