Foreign Minister on visit to Japan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil is paying a visit to Japan. He held official talks with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida and asserted Mongolia is maintaining the continuity of its foreign policy, according to which the partnership with Japan as the “Third Neighbor” will remain as priority. The sides agreed to forward the preparations for celebrating the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic relations next year. Among the many issues, the two dignitaries touched upon, were the role of Mongolia as a venue for Japan-North Korea dialogues, as Mongolia has diplomatic ties with the DPRK while Japan does not. FM of Mongolia Ts.Munkh-Orgil also met the Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance of Japan Taro Aso and discussed about increasing the efficiency of the free trade accord and expanding economic cooperation. Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil met the representatives of the Japan Diplomatic Society of the People, Japan-Mongolia Economic Committee, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), as well as from other financial and economic institutions and appealed them to make investments in Mongolia. His visit to Japan will complete on Thursday.
