Fostering Ties With Regional States, Iran's Priority - Mehmanparast

Tehran, May 1, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that promotion of relations with the neighboring nations is a priority of Iran's foreign policy. Mehmanparast made the remark here at his weekly press conference. Asked about the future of Iran’s relations with the UAE regarding the recent remarks of the Emirati officials on the southern Iranian islands, Mehmanparast warned the UAE officials to refrain from making unwise statements that would damage bilateral ties. Underlining the need for strengthening regional cooperation, he advised the UAE officials to avoid acts that would hurt Iran’s cooperation with the regional states. He reiterated that regional cooperation would bring about security and sustainable development to the entire region. As to the latest developments in Syria, he called on foreign courtiers not to interfere in domestic affairs of that country. Some evidences prove that certain states are not interested in establishment of peace and tranquility in Syria, said Mehmanparast, regretting that those countries try to arm opposition groups in order to fan the flames of the civil war./end
