Iran Diplomat Censures US Envoy's Anti-Iran Remarks

New York, Sept 8, IRNA – Deputy Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations, Eshaq Al-e-Habib, strongly responded to the statements by the US president's special representative for nuclear nonproliferation Susan F. Burk concerning Iran's nuclear activities. In reaction to Burk's statements, Al-e-Habib said that it is outrageous to see a country (US) that ranks first in nuclear activities and it has conducted the highest number of nuclear tests in the world and it is still continuing to do so and it is the only country to have used atomic bomb lodges accusations against Iran's nuclear activities which are entirely peaceful. Burk had accused Iran of not fulfilling its international commitments in terms of non-proliferation treaty and terms Iran's peaceful nuclear energy program as contradictory to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Al-e-Habib noted that even the US is presently threatening other countries that it will use nuclear weapons against those countries. 'The US has helped the Zionist regime which is the only source of instability and insecurity in the region in making nuclear weapons,' he added. Al-e-Habib noted that a world free from nuclear weapon should not be only a mental issue, but it should come to reality and for realizing it the countries which possess such weapons should burden the biggest responsibility./end
