Iran Expats Can Vote In Pakistan For Presidential Elections

Islamabad, May 28, IRNA - Iranˈs Ambassador to Pakistan Alireza Haqiqian on Monday said that Iranian expatriates can cast their ballots for the 11th presidential election in five cities of Pakistan. Talking to IRNA, Haqiqian said that the embassy of Iran in Pakistan has been given authority to conduct elections for the Iranian citizens. He added that the 11th presidential election would further strengthen Islamic democracy in Iran. “As per the direction of Supreme Leader we are fully prepared to hold the presidential election,” said the Iranian envoy. The envoy said on June 14, polling stations would be set up in five major cities of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar. He said the Iranian citizens on showing their identity cards or passports would be able to cast their votes. He added that polling would begin at 8 o’clock local time and continue for 10 hours. Iran has managed to hold its 11th presidential elections in 120 countries./end
