Iranian envoy advises EU to change policy on Iran

Vienna, Sept 19, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Austria Hassan Tajik advised European Union to change their policy on Iran. Tajik stressed that EU policy on Iran is against the interests of EU. In an interview with Austrian Newspaper, “Courier”, Tajik pointed out that Europe is obeying powers which are against Iran and this will hurt EU interests. He underlined that although economic sanctions might affect Iran, in fact, its effects on European companies are worse. He added that Iran because of its economic power and its strategic position in the Middle East is an important partner for different countries in the world, including European countries. The ambassador reminded that Iran and Europe are important for each other. The Iranian diplomat said that nuclear dispute has affected all other sectors which include a wide range of possibilities of cooperation between Iran and the EU. He added that if Europe does not change its policy on Iran, the two sides get more distant from each other. On a peaceful solution in nuclear issue, Tajik said that it’s time that the West took a step toward the solution. The ambassador called Vienna as “capital of international dialogue” and said it has an important role in this concern and underlined that Austria is a gate toward European Union for Iran.
