Iraqi vice president says Turkey closely interested in Iraq's situation

IRBIL (A.A) - January 16, 2012 - Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi said that Turkey was closely interested in the situation in Iraq. Turkey is in contact with Iraqi officials to solve the problems, and this shows the importance Turkey attaches in the region, added al-Hashimi who spoke to AA on Monday. We are aware that unstable situation in Iraq is threatening the security of Turkey too, said al-Hashimi, adding that they were closely following the statements of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan regarding the unstable situation in Iraq. I know that Turkish people wish a more prosperous life for Iraqi people, he said. Noting that he asked for the help of Erdogan two months ago, al-Hashimi said that he specially dealt with the problems. I hope bringing peace, tranquility and stability to Iraq will be in the hands of Erdogan, said al-Hashimi.
