IRNA Chief Urges Change In Western Attitude On Iran

Berlin, March 28, IRNA -- Iran's presidential media advisor and head of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Ali-Akbar Javanfekr called on the West to change its attitude on Iran. Talking to the Hamburg-based weekly stern news magazine, Javanfekr stressed the West had to correct its approach when dealing with Iran. 'The Americans and Europeans have so far wanted to impose their views on us, instead of cooperating with us. This has led us to a dead-end from the beginning. That's why we have in the past missed opportunities,' he added. Javanfekr said the foreign policy of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was based on 'dialogue and mutual cooperation.' Asked about military threats against Iran, Javanfekr replied, 'Who can attack us? Iran is a powerful country today.' 'We have great capacities in the nuclear sector and in the sphere of missile technology. We have launched satellites into orbit and shot down US spy drones. So let's be real: There will be not attack,' he added. Javanfekr said there were 'smart people in the US' who would ultimately be able 'to contain the loonies in Israel.' 'Israel is merely a puppet whom the Americans are using to threaten us,' the Iranian official went on to say./end
