ISOC says no signs of terrorism in Thailand
BANGKOK, March 3 (TNA) -- There are still no signs of terrorism acts or transnational crime activities in Thailand, said Maj Gen Banpot Poonpien, a spokesman of Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), adding that concerned government agencies are closely monitoring the situation.
Maj Gen Banpot said there were no signs of threat for the country, the public and the hoteliers are requested to inform security officials of any suspicious looking persons who might incite unrest in the country.
During February 16-29, drug traffickers smuggled Kratom leaves from Malaysia and sold in deep southern Thailand, he said.
Also, Myanmar anti-drug officials seized 6.3 million methamphetamine pills at boder town of Tachileik as they were about to be transported to the ‘Golden Triangle’ area and the seizure confirmed earlier intelligence reports that a large amount of narcotics were ready for smuggling to Thailand, said Maj Gen Banpot.
Thai law enforcement officials continued to focus on child prostitution, especially foreign children, but obstacles persisted due to long delays in judicial system, making the victims to be sent to their native home rather late, he said. (TNA)
