Larijani: Global Powers Sowing Discord Among Islamic States

Tehran, Aug 1, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that global powers seek to back extremists in Islamic states to sow discord among Islamic nations. He made the remarks in a meeting with Indonesian Ambassador to Tehran Dian Wirengjurit. Larijani advised the Islamic states to exercise vigilance to thwart conspiracies masterminded by the enemies. Referring to Iran and Indonesia as two important Islamic states in Asia, he said the Iranian parliament (Majlis) will spare no efforts to help broaden political, economic, cultural and parliamentary relations with Indonesia. There exits ample of untapped capacity for economic cooperation for Iran and Indonesia mainly in tourism which requires collaboration and investment of the private sectors, Larijani said. The Indonesian ambassador said for his part that he was pleased with his mission in Iran and said Indonesian government is to broaden economic and political relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. There are good grounds for tourism, cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries which should be utilized, he said. He called for establishment of direct flights between Tehran and Jakarta to help promote close ties between the two nations./end
