Lavrov highlights ties with "reliable partner" Latin America

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Russia "sets a high value" on ties with Latin American countries, and sees them as having major potentials, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the unveiling of an exhibition timed to mark 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Latin American states.
"Our cooperation proves convincingly that the distance in not an obstacle for cooperation," the minister said. "Our countries favor a dialogue based on mutual respect, non-interference in internal affairs of other states, as well as recognize the fact that the countries must independently determine the path of their development," Lavrov said.
Russia "sets a high value on relations with Latin America," he said. "This is a huge world, and I am confident that it is one of the most important and powerful supports of that multi-polar polycentric system that is being formed and that ensures stability of all international relations," the top diplomat said.
"We have common values, common principles that are fully objectively shared by the peoples of Latin America," the minister said. "We want to live he way our peoples want to, we want to equally cooperate with all, gaining from joint projects in the sphere of economy, investment, trade, science, culture, and in any sphere of human activity," he continued.
"We want the world to be basing on consensus of development centers, including the Latin America, including the Eurasian continent, Russia, and that the rules worked out after WWII and fixed in the UN Charter be the same for all, be respected and observed by all," Lavrov said.
