Lebanon's Foreign Minister Bassil follows up with Consul in Istanbul status of Lebanese injured during New Year's terror attack

NNA - Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Gebran Bassil, contacted on Sunday Lebanese General Consul in Istanbul and followed up closely on the condition of Lebanese citizens who were affected by the terror attack in Istanbul's Reina Club. Thirty-nine people, including many foreigners, were killed when a gunman reportedly dressed as Santa Claus stormed Reina Club during New Year's celebration and opened fire. The Lebanese Consulate contacted the hospitals where injured Lebanese were transported to in Turkey and continued to coordinate with Turkish security forces for latest updates on their condition. It is to be noted that Lebanese national Francois Al Asmar was wounded in the arm during the attacks and is scheduled to undergo minor surgery. The National News Agency received a call from Lebanese citizen Mirna Wardini on Sunday reporting her brother, Elias Khalil Wardini (born 1990 in Achrafiyeh), missing since last night's terror attack. The missing man's fiancé relayed to his family that she, Elias, and friends were at said club during the attacks and hid underneath a table. All of them survived except for Elias, who went missing. The victim's sister urged Lebanese authorities to intervene to find out Elias's fate.
