Memorial Service for Chairman Kim Jong Il Held at DPRK Embassy in China

Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- A memorial service was held at the DPRK embassy in Beijing on Dec. 16 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the demise of Chairman Kim Jong Il. Attending it were Wang Chen, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and officials of the party, government and social organizations of China. The participants placed a floral basket in the name of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China before the portraits of smiling President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and observed a moment's silence in memory of the Chairman. Then they looked round the pictures showing the revolutionary career of Chairman Kim Jong Il and the undying feats performed by Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in developing the DPRK-China friendly relations. Wang Chen asked DPRK Ambassador Ri Ryong Nam to convey the warm greetings and best wishes of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, to Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). Wang Chen said that he, upon authorization of the C.C., CPC, visited the DPRK embassy. He said that Chairman Kim Jong Il, who devoted all his life to the prosperity of the DPRK and the people's happiness and made a great contribution to the development of the China-DPRK friendly relations will be alive in the hearts of the peoples of the two countries. He said that the traditional China-DPRK friendship serves as precious wealth for both sides, expressing the firm stand of the Chinese side to propel the steady development of the China-DPRK friendly ties by thoroughly implementing the joint understanding of the top leaders of the two parties. -0-
