Nazarbayev discusses cooperation, Eurasian integration with Putin and Lukashenko

ASTANA, February 26. /TASS/. Issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus and plans for further top-level contacts were in the focus of telephone conversations Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev had with his Russian and Belarusian counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, on Thursday, the press service of the Kazakh head of state reported. "The leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia discussed the current situation in Ukraine and commended the ceasefire regime in the conflict zone," the press service said. "The two heads of state stressed the importance of the implementation of the Minsk agreements of February 12 to settle the Ukrainian crisis." Apart from that, the two presidents also exchanged views on prospects for Kazakhstan-Russia cooperation and relations within the Eurasian economic integration. "Putin reiterated his plans to take part in a trilateral meeting of the presidents of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia due to be held in Astana in March," the press service said. Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president’s press secretary, told TASS that "a possibility of such a meeting is being looked at." Nazarbayev’s conversation with the Belarusian leader also centered round cooperation issues. "The two heads of state discussed current issues of Kazakhstan-Belarus cooperation and relations within the Eurasian economic integration," the press service of the Kazakh leader said. "Nursultan Nazarbayev and Alexander Lukashenko agreed to continue the discussion at a forthcoming meeting between the presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia in Astana in March." Read more
