Nuclear Talks In Baghdad Expected To Lead To Lifting Sanctions

Tehran, May 22, IRNA – Nuclear talks with Group 5+1 in Baghdad is expected to lead to lifting sanctions on Iran, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Hojatoleslam Hossein Ibrahimi said on Monday.
Ibrahimi told IRNA that the talks in Istanbul last month was satisfactory and Iran sought the sanctions to be lifted as the outcome of the upcoming Baghdad talks.
Ibrahimi said that Russia asked Iran uranium enrichment not to go higher than 30 percent in order for the sanctions to be lifted in return.
He said that the western governments must lift the sanctions after they imposed 30 percent limitation on uranium enrichment.
“Of course, their refusal to lift sanctions will not create problems for Iran, because Iranian national economy is strong enough to neutralize the sanctions.”
He said that Iran will employ levers to multiple oil prices if they refused to lift sanctions, thus redoubling their economic crisis.
“Though Iran wants the sanctions to be lifted, but, we do not pin hope on positive reaction from the western governments.”/end
