Official ceremony held for opening “Year of Consumers”

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The government has named 2016 a Year of Consumers. Its opening ceremony ran January 29 themed “Under One Roof”. Deputy PM Ts.Oyunbaatar gave opening remarks and introduced main objectives of this year. The Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg also addressed the ceremony. “The cabinet resolved to announce 2016 as the Year of Consumers at the first regular meeting of this year. This is not an ordinary decision, in fact, this is a policy solution with purposes of improving people’s lives by solving the problems facing consumers," said the PM. He also mentioned series of decisions targeting the consumer interests, such as launch of discount on nighttime electricity tariff in ger areas, shift in monetary policy to reduce credit interest rates, and launch of the VAT payback system. The "11-11" public service center is operating, and 25 types of services had their online applications. Moreover, 167 types of public services will go online soon, he said.
