Official: Promoting Iran-UAE Economic Ties Will Benefit Both States

Tehran, Aug 8, IRNA – Iran Consul General in Dubai Ali Asghar Shafiee said expansion of economic ties between Iran and the UAE will benefit both countries. Talking to IRNA on Wednesday, he expressed his satisfaction with the current level of bilateral economic ties. However, he reiterated that there is still room for further promotion of ties. The diplomat said thanks to existence of the needed infra-structures in the UEA, many Iranian merchants prefer to use UAE for the transit of their commodities and exchange of goods. As for the activities of the Iranian Consulate Office in Dubai, he said the office renders services to up to 1,000 Iranian nationals everyday, according to the time of the year. Shafiee said about 160 passports and almost the same number of visas are issued by the consulate per day. According to the official, the number of the Iranians living in the UAE is estimated to stand at 500,000./end
