Pakistan Journalist Urges West To Accept Iran’s Peaceful N-program

Islamabad, April 13, IRNA -- A renowned Pakistani journalist said here Friday Iran must be allowed to continue its enrichment program without any external pressure. Talking to IRNA Asma Shirazi said that Iran is the signatory to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. “Discriminatory attitude of the west towards Iran is unacceptable,” she added. She was of the view that Iran must continue its nuclear program to cater its energy demands. “Iran is a major country and cannot be isolated by building pressure,” said the journalist. Washington and its western allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program, while they have never presented any corroborative evidence to substantiate their allegations. Iran denies the charges and insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only. Tehran stresses that the country has always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of Iranian population. Asma Shirazi said that every country in the world knows about the evil intentions of the Zionist regime yet they are allowed to develop a nuclear program without any objection. “This injustice must come to an end,” she stressed. The journalist said that the US is violating the Non-Proliferation Treaty as the country is continuing with its weapons-orientated nuclear activities. She strongly believed that the Muslim countries should unite and take a strong position against the western bias towards the Islamic Ummah. “Why the population of 3 billion Muslims is silent on obvious discrimination observed by the west?” she asked. Asma Shirazi to a question about the role of the European countries in the world said that they are always supporting the American and Zionist policies for the sake of their own interests. The analyst was of the view that justice must prevail in the whole world. Asma Shirazi has a vast experience in the news industry and television journalism; currently she hosts a program at Dawn TV./end
