Pakistan Urged To Review US Policy

Islamabad, Oct 8, IRNA -- Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Syed Syed Munawar Hasan, on Sunday urged the rulers to review the country’s foreign policy, make it independent and pull out of the US so-called war on terror. Addressing a huge public meeting at the northwestern Buner district, cautioned the Army Chief General Kayani that military operations in different areas had already created a wedge between the people and the armed forces and if the military operation was started in North Waziristan under US pressure, the results would be disastrous. He said that more than one and a half billion Muslims all over the world were ready to lay down their lives for the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Continuing, Syed Munawar Hasan said that freedom of expression did not mean mudslinging or hurling abuses on others, nor somebody could be allowed to hurt the sentiment of the Muslim Ummah. About the religious parties alliance, he said that for joining hands with the Jamaat, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, would have to enter make a written commitment that after elections, it will not lend support to the Pakistan Peoples Party or any other secular party. He said the Jamaat had made full preparations for the elections and it had left all options open. However, the party would keep in mind its principles and targets while making seat to seat adjustment nor would it make such adjustment with any party that only paid lip service to Islam. He made it clear to the rulers that every effort to postpone or delay the elections would be foiled with full public support../end
