PM inspects boat service in Phadung Krungkasem Canal
BANGKOK, Oct 5 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha took a passenger boat in the Phadung Krungkasem Canal from the Hua Lamphong railway station to the Thewarat Kunchorn pier to test the convenience of the service.
He waved to local people on the way.
At the pier of Wat Thewarat Kunchorn, the prime minister said he wanted to meet people in Bangkok after visiting other provinces. There 10 frogs were handed for him to release to make merits.
He told people that his government was implementing projects for the better future of all people but their future also depended on whom they would vote for in the next election.
The passenger boat service in the Phadung Krungkasem Canal started in response to Gen Prayut's call for authorities to expand passenger boat services in canals.
The Office of Traffic and Transport Policy and Planning has provided the service in the five-kilometer section of the Phadung Krungkasem Canal between Hua Lamphong and the Thewarat Kunchorn pier free of charge.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration expects to contract an operator to take over the service in the canal next year. (END)
