President visits birthplace of Declaration of Independence

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Upon wrapping up his attendance in the 71st session of UNGA, the President of Mongolia, Mr Ts.Elbegdorj visited the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of the USA, on September 23. The Governor of Pennsylvania Tom Wolf along with the Mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney and other officials officially welcomed our president. Mayor Kenney expressed in his speech that he is honored to be receiving the President of Mongolia, “the shining example of democracy not only in its region but in the whole world”. It is an extraordinary occasion that Philadelphia, the land of the American independence and freedom, is hosting one of the pioneers of the democratic revolution of Mongolia, he said. “The US and Mongolia have shared values and enduring ties. We are truly delighted to welcome the President of Mongolia to expand the ties into cultural and people-to-people connections”, he said. Mr Ts.Elbegdorj said “I am moved to have arrived in this historic city”, and extended gratitude to the leaders of the state and city for their warm hospitality. After the welcoming ceremony, the President met with the representatives of Mongolian nationals, living in Philadelphia. Among them were the people from ethnic minorities - Buryatians, Kalmyks and Tuvans, as well.
