Region’s stability owes a lot to Iran: Iranian president

TEHRAN, Sep. 07 (MNA) – During his provincial visit to Mashhad on Saturday, President Rouhani stressed the important role of Iran in bringing stability to the region.
Speaking to the gathering of people in Mashhad, President Rouhani remarked the dire situation of the region and asserted that “in these current conditions where Muslims in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Libya and Yemen are suffering through civil wars and intervention from outside powers, Iran, while attempting to address domestic issues, will also aspire to take measures for the stability and security of the region.”
“On the birthday of the eighth Shia Imam and in this gathering, I announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran has contributed greatly to bring about security and relative stability to the Iraqis, the Kurds, Sunni and Shia Muslims,” Rouhani highlighted.
Iran’s president reaffirmed, “of course, in Iraq, the citizens and religious figures have sacrificed more than any other, but if it weren't for the help of Iran, relative stability wouldn't have settled in Iraq at this very moment.”
He stressed the role of Iran in securing the stability in the region and said, “this relative stability in Syria and Lebanon owes a lot to the attempts and contributions by Iran’s people and government.”
