Rouhani departs for SCO summit in Tajikistan

TEHRAN, Sep. 10 – Iran’s president has left Kazakhstan to attend the 14th summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tajikistan. President Hassan Rouhani and a high-ranking Iranian officials and economic individuals left Astana to Dushanbe Wednesday morning. Iranian delegation and Kazakhstani counterparts signed a number of accords in different fields for expansion of economic cooperation. The Iranian delegation headed by President Rouhani will attend SCO in Dushanbe as one of the observers of the organization. Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic and military organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai. Members in their annual meetings review ways for cooperation in security, economy, culture and military. The Organization has six members, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, and India are observers and its dialogue partners include Belarus, Sri Lanka, and Turkey.
