Russia-China cooperation major guarantor of global peace - China’s foreign minister

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. Cooperation between Russia and China has become an important guarantor of maintaining peace in the world, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday. "The Chinese-Russian relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction have become a major support for the development and prosperity of both countries, and also an important guarantor of maintaining security and stability in the region and in the world as a whole," the Chinese foreign minister said at the opening of a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The Chinese foreign minister said he was pleased to hold a meeting in Moscow "with his long-standing friend." "Indeed, one of the major goals of my visit to Russia is to make preparations for the upcoming official visit by China’s President Xi Jinping to Moscow and his participation in the festivities on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War," the Chinese foreign minister said. "I’m pleased to note that the Chinese-Russian relations are developing at a high level thanks to the efforts of the leaders of both countries and a new stage is beginning in our cooperation," Wang Yi said. Mutual support of China and Russia is becoming ever more resolute and firm, their practical cooperation increasingly versatile and their interaction on the international scene more effective, the Chinese foreign minister said. "We expect to take advantage of this occasion of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the victory to strengthen mutual support, increase confidence and intensify bilateral exchanges and cooperation and thus give a new impetus to the development of our relationships," the Chinese foreign minister said.
