Russian, Georgian diplomats to meet in Prague to discuss bilateral ties

TBILISI, February 18. /TASS/. Georgian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin will discuss bilateral cooperation in various areas and the prospects for its development at their next meeting in Prague on February 27. "An agreement has been reached that our next meeting will be held in Prague on February 27. We will focus on specific issues related to cooperation between the two countries in trade, economy, transport, humanitarian problems that have piled up over the past few months and prospects for developing cooperation in these areas," Abashidze told TASS. He noted that "the February 27 meeting in Prague would be attended by diplomats, representatives of the economy and transport ministries of Georgia and Russia." After severance of diplomatic relations between Russia and Georgia in 2008, the Karasin-Abashidze consultations are the only format of official dialogue between the two countries. The two diplomats met for the first time in December 2012. The parties have been discussing practical issues of ironing out ties between Moscow and Tbilisi. The two last met in Prague in October 2018. Read more
