Senior Diplomat: Senegal Election Indicated High Political Maturity Of Its Nation

Tehran, March 28, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab and African Affairs, referring to presidential election in Senegal, said that holding the election and noticeable participation of Senegalese people in it, indicated the high political maturity of its nation and growing trend toward more development and democracy. Hossein Amir-Abdullahian told a reporter concerning presidential election in Senegal that Iran is so pleased with holding democratic election in Senegal and felicitates victory of Macky Sall as the fourth president of the country. Wishing success for newly-elected president of Senegal, the deputy FM expressed hope that during new presidential tenure the Senegal would witness more development and progress. He said that the two Muslim countries of Iran and Senegal have deep rooted historical and cultural ties and friendship and expansion of relations with friendly countries on the basis of reciprocal interests are among strategic policies of Iran./end
