Sheikh Abdullah discusses Egyptian media accusations

Abu Dhabi, Dec 18, 2012 (WAM) - The UAE Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met yesterday, at his own request, with the Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, Tamer Mansour. The meeting discussed the fraternal relations between the two countries and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah thanked the ambassador for his efforts to promote these relations. He also expressed his wishes of success for the Egyptian government in its assignments. Sheikh Abdullah emphasised that the relations between the two countries are strategic and are based on solid ground. Sheikh Abdullah and the ambassador discussed fabricated remarks broadcast recently by some media in Egypt, involving accusations against the UAE, including the allegation that it was engaged in plots against the Egyptian leadership. Sheikh Abdullah said that these claims, which are completely without foundation in fact, are intended to damage the interests of the two countries and their historic and special relationship. He reiterated his denunciation of the claims. He stressed to the ambassador the need for the Egyptian government to follow up on these unfounded and slanderous fabrications which do not serve the fraternal relationship between the two sisterly countries. H.H Sheikh Abdullah stressed to the ambassador the UAE's unwavering commitment to its principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
