Speaker meets delegation of National Party of Scotland

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Z.Enkhbold Wednesday received a delegation from Scotland of the United Kingdom. The delegation included Mr Scott Martin, a legal advisor to the National Party of Scotland (NPS); Mr John Franks, a law implementation manager of the UK Election Commission; and Ms Ashleigh Whelan, the country director of the International Republican Institute (IRI) for Mongolia. The Speaker wished the guests an enjoyable stay in Mongolia and thanked the IRI for running a discussion on election financing and its monitoring together with the parliamentary Standing committee on state structure, the General Election Commission and the Center for Voters’ Education. The Speaker also talked about Mongolian experience in utilization of automatic devices for carrying out elections, highlighting that some nominees at elections have opposed the use of these devices. Mr Franks said London and Scotland still utilize electric devices for counting ballot papers, and that the UK is learning a possibility of using the machines in elections throughout the Great Britain.
