Students urged to cast votes for gubernatorial election

BANGKOK, February 16 (TNA) - With the next Bangkok governor election only about two weeks away, the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) has cooperated with educational institutes in the capital to organise activities, aimed at encouraging new, young eligible voters to exercise their electoral rights in the upcoming gubernatorial election, set on March 3, 2013. EC Secretary-General Puchong Nutrawong told journalists on Saturday that, following discussions with educational institutes, Rajabhat Chandrakasem University has decided to launch campaigns within the university campus, encouraging its students to exercise their electoral rights on March 3. More than 200 students of the university, lecturers and entertainers will also join in distributing leaflets to the general public near the university on February 18. Twenty-four candidates, two of them running under political banners, are contesting for the March 3 Bangkok governor election. (TNA)
