Syrian nation, gov't are ultimate winners against terrorism: Velayati

Tehran, June 1, IRNA - Head of Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said despite all ups and downs in the last four years, the nation and government of Syria will be the ultimate winner in the fight against terrorist groups. He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad Al-Laham in which the senior lawmarker termed the Saudi-led aggression of Yemen a shameful act. Velayati said there are no concerns over Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen becuase they will succeed in their resistance. 'Terrorist cannot defeat resisting countries. The Syrian and government and nation will succeed in saving their country from the quagmire of terrorists.' He said Saudi Arabia has imposed a conflict on Yemeni people by bombarding them which is a rare form of disaster in the contemporary world, and added the aggression is doomed to defeat because the poeple of Yemen are equipped with civilization and resistance culture like peoples of Syria and Iraq. Al-Laham, for his part, thanked the Supreme Leader, government and people of Iran for supporting Syria in its war against terrorism and and said, 'In Syria, we are involved in a small-size World War against the people and government and our infrasturcture has been destroyed.' He expressed the hope that on-going negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers will conclude in spite of opposing noises which are being heard from Saudis above others. A nuclear agreement will result in stregthening the anti-Israel resistance movement, he added. He also criticized the Saudi regime for its war of aggression against neighboring Yemen and said, the coalition of certain Arab countries in invading Yemen is a source of shame for the Arab world. The Syrian parliamentarian also said the Saudi regime is the factory of terrorism which spreads tekfiri and extremist thoughts in the world. Al-Laham arrived in Tehran on Monday heading a parliamentary delegation.
