Tehran, Moscow announce readiness to promote regional cooperation

TEHRAN, Nov. 13 (MNA) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov called for the expansion of relations with Tehran. The Russian official made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran on Saturday. “We are keen to increase cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and regional cooperation within the framework of regional organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” he said. Salehi also said the Islamic Republic is ready to continue consultations with Russia on regional and international issues because it believes that the world is currently in a critical situation. Russia could play a major role in the establishment of peace and stability in the world, Salehi said, adding that Iran is keen to cooperate with Russia to bring peace, stability, and security to the region.
