Thai Foreign Minister meets his Japanese conterpart during APEC meeting
MANILA, Nov 16 (TNA) -- Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai met his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in Manila, the Philippines today to boost bilateral relations before the beginning of the APEC Ministerial Meeting this afternoon.
Both met at about 9.30am of the local time. They emphasized strategic partnerships and the exchange of senior authorities’ visits between both countries. The prime minister of both nations will meet during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur next week.
Thai and Japanese foreign ministers also discussed economic cooperation. Following bombings at the Ratchaprasong intersection and in Paris, the Thai government expressed its intention to take good care of visitors and operators in Thailand.
Mr Kishida expressed his condolences on the bombing at Ratchaprasong and gratitude towards the Thai government for the good care of affected Japanese tourists. He also extended his condolences on the bombing in Paris. He assured that Japan was ready to join forces with the international community to cope with ongoing threats.
On the occasion, the Japanese foreign minister also expressed support for reform in Thailand that will lead to democracy together with transparency, accountability, the rule of law and sustainable solutions. (TNA)
