Thammasat University marks 42nd anniversary of Oct 6, 1976 massacre
BANGKOK, Oct 6 (TNA) - Authorities of Thammasat University organized an event to mark the 42nd anniversary of the Oct 6, 1976 massacre in the university to remember pro-democracy victims.
Many people attended the event today. They include relatives of dead victims, students and general people. They gave alms to Buddhist monks in the morning to make merits for the victims.
Wreaths were placed and speeches delivered to honor them. There were also a relevant discussion, the presentation of a short documentary and poem awards and an exhibition to recall the massacre of pro-democracy students and people.
Boonsom Akarathammakul, assistant rector of Thammasat University, said people should consider the incident as a lesson on the benefits of peace and constructive politics and for the next general election people should look for effective work for the public interest by political groups.
Some relatives of the dead victims said they were still unable to overcome sorrow for their losses but at least they felt consoled as the dead victims were still remembered. (TNA)
