Turkey condemns arrests of two Palestinian lawmakers by Israel

ANKARA (A.A) - January 23, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned arrests of two Palestinian lawmakers by Israel. A statement by the ministry said on Monday that arrests of Aziz Dweik, speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), and another Palestinian lawmaker when the international community were exerting efforts to revive negotiations for a solution to Israeli-Palestinian conflict supported doubts that Israel did not assume a sincere attitude in the peace process. The ministry said Turkey expected all representatives elected by free will of Palestinian people to the PLC under Israeli arrest to be released as soon as possible.
