Turkish premier has phone talk with Iraqiya leader

ANKARA (A.A) - January 12, 2012 - Turkey's prime minister spoke to Iraqiya leader by phone on Thursday. Turkey's Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iraqiya leader Ayad Allawi discussed ongoing political tension in Iraq. In the phone talk, Erdogan expressed concern that anti-democratic and sectarian movements in Iraq could push the country into chaos. Erdogan said escalation of tension in Iraq could cause a civil war, and it could have regional reflections, and underlined importance of restoration of dialogue and confidence among parties in Iraq. Premier Erdogan said Iraqiya should assume great responsibilities in that challenging days. In the phone talk, Turkey expressed its wish that Iraqi people lived in peace, democracy, stability and prosperity and said it would support all Iraqi politicians that would serve that aim. Allawi welcomed the importance Turkey attached to peace, democracy, stability and prosperity in Iraq.
