Two Aceh Residents killed By Unknown Gunmen

Banda Aceh, Aceh Darrusalam, May 16 (ANTARA) - Two Aceh residents were shot dead by unknown gunmen on the Banda Aceh-Medan route in the Kuta Blang area, Bireuen district, Aceh province at 11:55 pm local time on Tuesday. Senior Commissioner Gustav Leo, a spokesman of the Aceh provincial police office, reported here on Wednesday that the two victims were travelling by car with another person when they were shot dead in Bireuen, around 270 km east of the Aceh provincial capital of Banda Aceh. The victims have been identified as Sukri bin Abdullah, 35, an inhabitant of Pangoi village, Muaradua sub-district, Lhokseumawe, Aceh, and Cut Yeti, 39, a housewife who also lived in Lhokseumawe. Sukri was a member of the Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA) in the 3 Pasee Cot Kupula area. The third passenger has been identified as TM Yasir, 16, a student and resident of Blang Seupeng, Pidie Jaya district. Yasir sustained minor injuries when the car skidded after being hit by bullets. According to the police spokesman, the CRV car, which had an Aceh Party sticker on its body, was speeding towards Batee Iliek (on its way from Bireuen to Lhokseumawe) when it was suddenly approached by another car whose armed passengers fired AK-47`s at the CRV`s passengers. The local police have collected seven AK-47 bullet shells from the crime scene. The victims` bodies were autopsied at Fauziah Bireuen Public Hospital.
