Zarif Calls For Co-op With India, Germany

Tehran, Feb 2, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference, met with India National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon and German Parliament Head of Committee on Foreign Affairs Norbert Rottgen. According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Zarif in his meeting with Menon, discussed regional and international developments as well as bilateral cooperation. Referring to wide cultural, historical and political commonalities between the two countries and importance of ties in promotion of peace and stability in the region, Zarif called mutual cooperation between Iran and India in economic fields and its effects on neighboring states ˈimportantˈ. Menon, for his part, underlined his countryˈs firm decision to deepen relations with Iran in Chabahar region and referred to useful cooperation between the two countries in securing peace and stability in the region, especially in Afghanistan developments, and welcomed future trip of Iranˈs Secretary of Supreme National Security Council to India. Zarif also exchanged views with German Parliament Head of Committee on Foreign Affairs Norbert Rottgen on the sidelines of the conference and discussed bilateral ties between the two countries as well as parliamentary cooperation. In the meeting, Zarif, by referring to long history of cooperation between Iran and Germany in different fields, called for both parliaments role in providing an appropriate ground in the new atmosphere of relations between Iran and Germany to use created opportunity caused by agreement between Iran and Group 5+1. The German MP, by referring to positive developments created in mutual relations and wide cooperation in economic field, underlined reciprocal meetings between parliamentary delegations.
