Zarif dedicates Chatham House Prize to Iran's resistant nation

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said Mohammad Javad Zarif offered the Chatham House Prize to all Iranian people. Ghasemi quoted Mohammad Javad Zarif as saying that the prize is for all Iranian nation, those who proudly left behind pressure and sanctions in recent years with resistance and wisdom. Ghasemi underlined that Foreign Minister Zarif will not attend the ceremony to receive his prize due to busy schedules and high compression. Members of Royal Institute of International Affairs, during this year's ceremony on Monday, October 24, voted for Mohammad Javad Zarif to receive the Chatham House Prize in recognition of his crucial roles, throughout 2015, in successfully negotiating the historic nuclear deal between Iran and the 5+1 – considered to be one of the most intractable diplomatic stand-offs in international affairs in the 21st century. The prize is granted annually to those who have made the most significant contribution to the improvement of international relations in the previous year. In addition to Zarif, US Secretary of State John Kerry was named another winner of the Chatham House Prize 2016.
