Doha, October 15 (QNA) - In their editorials Sunday, Qatari newspapers highlighted the ongoing Qatari high-level communications since day one of the serious developments taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories with various officials in the region and worldwide to coordinate regarding these developments, regional and international efforts, and the possibility of regional and international interventions within the framework of de-escalation.
The newspapers noted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's emphasis during a phone conversation with HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Ebrahim Raisi on importance of efforts to de-escalate the situation, sparing civilians from the consequences of the fighting, opening safe corridors in Gaza for relief and humanitarian efforts, and ensuring that the violence does not expand regionally.
Al-Watan said that HH the Amir received Saturday a phone call from HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during which they discussed the bilateral relations, ways to develop them, and several regional and international issues of common interest, particularly concerning the developments in the Palestinian territories and Israel.
Under the headline "De-escalation and Opening Safe Corridors," the newspaper noted HH the Amir's emphasis on the importance of efforts to de-escalate the situation, sparing civilians from the consequences of the fighting, opening safe corridors in Gaza for relief and humanitarian efforts, and ensuring that the violence does not expand regionally. His Highness also stressed the State of Qatar's firm position in condemning the targeting of civilians, collective punishment policies, and calls for the displacement of Palestinians.
The paper underlined that the State of Qatar has unequivocally rejected attempts to forcibly displace the brotherly Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and called for the lifting of the siege there and the provision of full protection for civilians under international law and international humanitarian law.
The paper referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement warning of the danger of taking the policy of collective punishment, including calls for evacuating North Gaza Strip from the population, indicating that compelling civilians to displacement or seek refuge in the neighboring countries represents a violation of international laws
The newspaper pointed out that despite United Nations agencies' warnings about the consequences of the violent Israeli aggression on Gaza, the Israeli occupation's aircraft carried out a series of intense airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip, targeting the homes of civilians.
Al-Watan concluded by saying that what the Israeli entity is committing in terms of heinous crimes is internationally rejected and prohibited, and therefore the international community must act to immediately stop the daily bloodshed in the Gaza Strip.
In turn, under the headline "No to the Displacement of Palestinians," Al-Sharq daily said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani emphasized during a phone conversation with HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Ebrahim Raisi on the importance of efforts to de-escalate the situation, sparing civilians from the consequences of the fighting, opening safe corridors in Gaza for relief and humanitarian efforts, and ensuring that the violence does not expand regionally. His Highness also stressed the State of Qatar's firm position in condemning the targeting of civilians, collective punishment policies, and calls for the displacement of Palestinians.
The newspaper highlighted Qatari diplomatic efforts to save innocent lives and provide humanitarian relief to thousands of Palestinians who are being subjected to violent attacks by the Israeli occupation army, targeting civilians, including children, 700 of whom lost their lives in the Gaza Strip since the start of the Israeli aggression. The United Nations described the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as catastrophic, especially for children, the paper said, adding that a large number of Gaza's children and their families no longer have access to safe drinking water, and it is essential to provide humanitarian corridors to deliver aid to the population there and ensure that healthcare institutions are not targeted.
In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the State of Qatar renews its warning of the danger of taking the policy of collective punishment, including calls for evacuating North Gaza Strip from the population, indicating that compelling civilians to displacement or seek refuge in the neighboring countries represents a violation of international laws that would consequently aggravate the impacts of the ongoing confrontations in the occupied Palestinian territories and compound the suffering of Palestinian people, and urges the international community to urgently act to open humanitarian corridors that allow international organizations to deliver medical and food assistance to Gaza and evacuate the injured civilians.

Qatari daily Al-Raya condemned the Israeli occupation's attempt to eliminate Palestinian cause through the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, stressing Qatar's rejection of the occupation using the current situation to impose a new displacement of the Palestinians from their land and establish new refugee camps in Arab countries.
In this context, Al-Raya highlighted the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday announcing Qatar's unequivocal rejection of the attempts of forced evacuation of the brotherly Palestinian people from Gaza Strip, calling for lifting the siege of the Strip and providing full protection for civilians according to international law and international humanitarian law.
The statement emphasized that the only guarantee to achieve sustainable peace in the region is to attain a just and comprehensive solution for the Palestinian cause by ensuring the restoration of rights to the Palestinian people, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Raya urged the international community to urgently act to open humanitarian corridors that allow international organizations to deliver medical and food assistance to Gaza and evacuate the injured civilians.
Under the headline "Qatari Efforts to Reduce Escalation", Al-Arab noted the ongoing contacts carried out by the State of Qatar since the first day of the dangerous developments taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories with officials in the region and the world in order to coordinate regional and international efforts to reduce escalation. Qatari English newspaper The Peninsula said that Qatar's leadership is making all out efforts for de-escalation in Gaza, raising its voice at all forums to stop the killing of innocent lives in the city of 2.3 million residents amid indiscriminate Israeli air raids. Hundreds of Palestinians including many women and children have been killed in the past hours in the fresh attacks.
In its editorial titled "Qatar Strives for De-escalation in Gaza," The Peninsula noted the assertion of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during his meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on the need of de-escalation and opening safe corridors in Gaza as the city runs out of water, electricity, food and medicines. It also said that forcing civilians to displace or seek refuge in neighboring countries constitutes a violation of international laws, and would exacerbate the effects of the ongoing confrontations in the Occupied Palestinian territories and aggravate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the only guarantee for achieving sustainable peace in the region is to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, ensuring the restoration of rights to the Palestinian people, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, the paper added.
Yesterday in Cairo, HE Chairman of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments and Secretary-General of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadala called on the international community to protect the Palestinians from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the paper pointed out.
The situation in Gaza is such that even the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees said its shelters there "are not safe anymore", The Peninsula concluded. (QNA)
