In this regard, HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Foreign Affairs Minister, and his Saudi counterpart, HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, who co-chair the Saudi-Bahraini Council’s Political Coordination sub-Committee, chaired a preparatory meeting, attended by Hamad bin Faisal Al-Maliki, Cabinet Affairs Minister, and Osama Al-Alawi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and National Economy. HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan extended Saudi Arabia’s condolences to the kingdom’s leadership and people over the victims of the act of aggression that had targeted a taskforce of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), who lost their lives while performing their patriotic duties along the southern borders of Saudi Arabia, as part of the Operation Restoring Hope. He also condoled with the families of the late servicemen, and wished the wounded a speedy recovery. Then, the two sides reviewed the robust fraternal Bahraini-Saudi relations, and discussed ways to further strengthen them, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels. They also discussed means to deepen joint cooperation through a number of initiatives to meet the aspirations of the two kingdoms’ leaderships and achieve their peoples’ interests. The panel also reviewed the work of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council and its sub-committees, in addition to the preparations for the Council’s third meeting. The committee also discussed the progress made in the work of subcommittees and the initiatives launched during the Council’s second meeting, held in Manama on December 9, 2022. The initiatives to be launched during the Council’s third meeting, as well as the draft agreements and memoranda of understanding to be signed on its sidelines were also tabled. The two sides commended the ongoing cooperation and coordination among the Saudi-Bahrain Coordination Council’s sub-committees and taskforces, stressing the need to maintain such a level of cooperation to achieve the interests of the two kingdoms and peoples.
