294 applicants received “Bolashak” scholarship
Astana, April 21, 2009 (Khabar) - The international “Bolahsak” scholarship has been awarded to 294 applicants. This decision has been made at a regular sitting of the republic’s commission on training personnel abroad under the chairmanship of the secretary of state Kanat Saudabayev. The personal profiles of those who went through the selection process from December 2008 until March 2009 were under examination. The number of higher educational institutions which Bolashak scholarship winners are directed to, have reduced from 480 to 200 as now tougher restrictions are applied for universities. Apart from that, the list of specialities in the area of humanities bachelor’s degrees has also been reduced. The list of technical, medical and art specialties as well as the terms of scientific in-depth training remain the same.
Kulyash Shamshitdinova, deputy minister for education and science of RK:
- Some students were deprived of scholarships due to poor academic results and chiefly those who received scholarships but were unable to go abroad due to some personal reasons. 5-6 people with poor grades were deprived of scholarships and the rest of about 20 weren’t able to leave the country.
