Screening of breast cancer is launched in Kazakhstan

Almaty, 8 October 2008, (Khabar) - 400 000 women will pass mammography
examination. Austrian specialists held master-class in Kazakh scientific research institute of oncology and radiology for the Kazakhstani doctors from all regions.

The Austrian doctors also shared their experience in
sphere of diagnosing, treatment and preventing of disease. Currently about
one million people are taken ill with breast cancer in the world. This year
this disease was revealed among 3 000 patients in Kazakhstan. But the
oncologists are sure the disease can be treated at early stage and guarantee
is 100%. Newest foreign equipment that was purchased by the Ministry for
Healthcare, allows to reveal growth at the beginning stage. The Austrian
specialists got acquainted the Kazakhstani doctors with this technology on
October 7.

Zhektergen Arzykulov, director of Kazakh scientific research institute of
oncology and radiology:
- Modern mammographic equipment allows to reveal growth of about 5 mm. They
will show how to reveal such small swellings with the help of such equipment
with biopsy mounting.

Professor of Austrian Medical Institute Raimund Jakes is going to fulfill
operation in inter active regime. Kazakhstani doctors will watch how he will
fulfill operation while Austrian doctors will conduct researches in nearby
labs.

Margaretta Rudas, professor of Austrian Medical Institute:
- I am holding master class on morphologic diagnosing of breast cancer to
understand which approach must be used in treatment of patient and how
maximally improve results of therapy.

This year the budget allocated 17 billion tenge for healthcare and 30 % is
spent for treatment of oncological patients.

Kadyr Omarov, deputy minister for healthcare of RK:
- We purchased all necessary equipment, medical technics that answers world
standards. They are mobile forms of diagnosing, such as mobile ultra sound
researching apparatus, mobile mammography and fluorography.

Most of all cases of breast cancer were registered in North Kazakhstani,
Karaganda and East Kazakhstani regions. And Almaty city takes the first
place in this black list.
